Update: As of February 2011, Dr. Yates is now certified in both veterinary acupuncture and chiropractic for both horses AND dogs. She is available to provide these services either on individual farm calls or at shows or clinics.
Dr. Angie Yates provides mobile equine veterinary services to clients in central Indiana, focusing on lameness and sports medicine. However, she also offers routine care such as vaccinations, dentistry and castrations. In addition, Dr. Yates incorporates acupuncture and chiropractic treatments into both wellness and lameness examinations.
In 2010, Dr. Yates was awarded her Certified Veterinary Acupuncturist designation by the International Veterinary Acupuncture Society. This certification comes after the completion of the IVAS course, passing all required examinations, completing a 40 hour internship and submitting an acupuncture case report.
In 2011, Dr. Yates obtained her certification in veterinary chiropractic from the International Veterinary Chiropractic Association after completing the 5 week course at Options for Animals in Wellsville, KS, in addition to passing both the course examination and the international exam.
From Dr. Yates: “ I believe the fact that I continue to actively ride and compete serves me well when treating equine athletes. I am able to immediately understand information such as 'his right to left lead change is sticky' or 'she won’t take the long spot at an oxer anymore.' As an owner myself, I actively seek and appreciate practitioners who are familiar with equine sports on a personal level.”
